My child is 6 years old almost 7 she have her left eye drifting upwards and outwards sometimes
Question
Hi,
I have been following up with an eye doctors since she was two and she wear glasses her vision is getting better, she have astigmatism.
Her doctor recently suggested an eye surgery for one muscle in the left eye. As a mother i am freaking scared to go surgical. I read the risk factors about the surgery at the same time i am afraid not to do the surgery and she will grow up with less self confidence about her drifting eye. I am really very confused what to do. Am afraid she will will have complications!
Also as a mother I feel sorry and guilty for a little kid to go surgical.
Please help
Answer
Thanks for your Question
I can't tell what kind of surgery your child will have and what is the indication of the surgery as i don't have the full notes of her ocular examination. But there is no harm from having more opinions from other pediatric ophthalmologists.
I know it will be difficult for you as a mother but sometimes doctors have to choose the surgical approach for the treatment.
